As of today, the students of higher education institutions established in the Baltic States are invited to submit their papers for the annual Competition of Student Scientific Research Papers announced by Latvijas Banka by 31 May.

Latvijas Banka organises the competition already for the 22nd time. Participation is open to citizens and non-citizens of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, as well as foreigners who at the time of the competition are registered as students of higher educational institutions accredited in the Baltic States, enrolled in Bachelor's or Master's degree programmes, as well as to the students of the Baltic States studying abroad.

The submitted papers should delve into subjects currently relevant for the Baltic and euro area economies (suggestions for topics and a list of the previous years' award-winning papers are available on the website: https://www.macroeconomics.lv/konkursi/latvijas-banka-announces-competition-student-scientific-research-papers).

Submission of competition papers to Latvijas Banka is slated for the period spanning from 14 May to 31 May 2024 using the application form available on the website makroekonomika.lv.

They will be evaluated by a committee of economists set up by Latvijas Banka. The award-winning papers will be published on Latvijas Banka's website www.macroeconomics.lv, their authors will receive money awards (including EUR 1500 to the first-prize-winning paper, EUR 1250 to the two second-prize-winning papers each and EUR 1000 to the three third-prize-winning papers each; in the case of co-authored papers, the award shall be divided among the authors).

30 papers were submitted to the competition in the academic year 2022/2023 from 10 higher educational institutions of Latvia and foreign countries (the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga, Riga Stradiņš University, BA School of Business and Finance, the University of Latvia, Riga Technical University, Riga Business School, Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, Erasmus University Rotterdam, Bocconi University and the New Economic School).
