Starting with data for January 2022, a new data source – payment card data – has been used to assess the components of the balance of payments, such as travel services as well as e-commerce of goods and services. These data are compiled based on Latvijas Banka's Regulation No. 196 "Regulation for Compiling the Payment Statistics Reports on Card-Based Payment Transactions" of 11 June 2021.
In September 2022, when carrying out the regular data revision, payment card data to assess travel services as well as e-commerce of goods and services will be included starting with data for January 2020.
